Keeping Up With Societal Evolution

Don’t. Just don’t.

Rush Limbaugh was always amusing with being on the cutting edge of societal evolution. I am pretty sure he was saying it tongue-and-cheek, don’t believe he was actually serious. I mean, why do you and are you trying to keep up with anything society does. I think people are trying so desperately to fit in that they just post and or say stuff so it will look like they are a thriving part of today’s society/culture.

It’s A Mystery To Me

In this new year, we as Christians, continue to wonder why the world finds Christians such an enigma. In fact, the world has so much confusion about us that it has spilled over into some churches and now some that call themselves Christians are confused about the matter. Why do Christians stand against society? How can you call yourselves a member of our society and say or do things completely opposite of our society?

Being Con*tent* With Your *Con*tent

It is a new year, and there is so much to say with only a little short article to say it with. I do not know how this will end up, but let’s see how much I can pack into this edition. There are several things bouncing around in my head so if I chase rabbits just go on the hunt with me.

Year of the Messed Up Mind

This has been a real, well, a really…err…memorable year. That’s about the only thing you can say for it. This year we discovered that good was actually bad, and bad was actually good!

Born to Die (Reprise)

I have read many articles and opinions on the fact that Christ came into the world to die for you sins, but the way he died – and willingly. How can I wrap my head around that? How, as a very fallible human being could you ever muster up the nerve to do that? Look again at what Isaiah said about it many years before it actually happened.

What is Wrong with Santa Claus (Reprise)

Before starting I can say without a doubt that this article is going to make me unpopular, at least, more so than I already am. Years ago, this legend was born because a generous man wanted to give the children something on what was considered the most important day of the year – the birth of Christ. He wanted to give good gifts to the children as a reminder of the most important gift that was ever given.

Follow that Star! (Reprise)

Ok, you just bought that beautiful nativity set. It is gorgeous. Everything looks perfect. Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, shepherds, donkeys, cows, sheep, goats, wise men…(screeching halt here). Wise men? Just why do we see wise men in all nativity scenes. It took almost two years for the wise men to find the baby. Wandering around all thru the wilderness for years, looking for the promise of the Messiah, but having trouble getting there. Too busy looking up; too busy to look out; too busy following that star.

The Age of Innocency is Over

In the beginning God formed a perfect world. Adam & Eve were perfect creations in a perfect world. Satan came along in the form of a serpent and got them to do the very thing that they were commanded not to do. The age of innocency was over. They could not go back after they were evicted from the perfect world.

‘Bout Time to be Thankful Again

You are kidding me? Do you mean to tell me after all we’ve been through this year we are supposed to take a day off and be thankful again??!!  I would have thought we would just skip that this year. Our elected officials have gone off the deep end, thrown out the baby with the bathwater, gone cuckoo! After this dreadful couple of years, we are supposed to be thankful!!

Get on the Housetop

When my children were growing up I used to read them a story about a badger and his wife. The badger, according to his wife, could do nothing right. She yelled at him constantly. He could do nothing right. No matter where he went, she followed after him yelling and nagging. Finally, the only way he got any peace was to climb up on the roof and go to sleep under the stars. The moral of the story was Proverbs 25:24

“It is better to dwell in the corner of a housetop, than with a brawling woman and in a wide house.”
