Anxiety

“Be careful (anxious) for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”

“And the peace of God, which surpasseth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”        Philippians 4:6-7

The Mutation of Feminism

Feminism probably started out as a generally good idea. Women in this country were one time almost ignored – treated as property (this was not a Biblical idea). So, women formed groups to finally after years of protests and demonstrations (I do not recall anyone looting or setting things on fire in the history books), women were given the right to vote. The same thing occurred with women trying to get equal pay for doing the same work as men (something that never should have been different – if the same amount of work was being done).

Almost Good Advice

I’ve noticed an uncanny amount of friends and Christian women following this creed. “Take time for self-care.” And I think I know why they say it. They have worked themselves half to death at some point while trying to work a job, care for others, or possible even ministering at church. I want to be careful in writing this because at one time I have been that burnt-out, young, hurting Christian. In wanting to be of service I took on too many duties. I am not going to make a list of all the activities I was involved in because that is irrelevant. Too many duties is going to be different for everyone. Some people seem to have limitless boundless energy. They can sleep three hours per night and keep going. I am not one of them. I have physical limitations that cannot be ignored.

The Fountain

Just imagine a fountain that bubbles up from a cool, unpolluted mountain spring – one that has inexhaustible resources. That is the spiritual water that Christ was telling the woman at the well about – the woman that had five husbands and was now living with another man. People are always thirsting for something and they do not know what it is – that is, not until Jesus comes into their life and introduces them to that spiritual water that never runs out. That spiritual water can still today, quench the thirst of every man, woman, and child (whosoever will may come).

Division

I have brought this subject up before, but let’s get right down to it. We live in a divided world. There is a huge division between political parties nowadays. There is division between science and common sense. There is division between women and men (and, in today’s norm between the who am I’s and the what am I’s).

Grace

I was listening to the radio a few days ago and a song came on that I had never heard before. Just a few words got to me, I was in the car and the car got turned off just a few seconds after the song began. How real those few word are though – “All I Have Is Grace.” Exactly. That is all any of us have. Without God’s grace, where would any of us be.

Education Ain’t What It’s Cracked Up To Be

I guess before I start this article, I should tell a little more about introverts. Introverts do not like drawing attention to themselves, they pretty much want to be and do things that keep them in the background. They have a hard time getting over bad situations and really do not like to be reminded of those bad situations. In other words, do not like to talk about it. So, on with this writing.

Killing Time

Killing. That is a pretty violent sounding analogy. You can though, “kill” time by doing everyday things. Like gossip, reading things that you should not be reading, and here’s the big one – watching television! You are going to stop reading now, I know, but don’t please – because I am right there with you. I do it too. We have all read articles about watching TV and how it can actually kill brain cells. We just like to ignore that because it is not convenient to NOT watch television. We have our sets on constantly. Some of us actually automatically turn the things on when we get out of bed. We say it is to “watch the news”, but then, we never go over and turn the things off when the news is over! From the news to the latest craze talk show host to The Price Is Right, to soap, sick soap opera, to the next talk show. From morning to evening there are all those different program choices, all those vain things, and at the end of the day you finally realize that the entire day is wasted – you have done nothing – you have let others do your thinking for you. Does that sound like a reason that our country, our world, could be in the bad situation it is in. Have we sat back, killing time?

It’s Still The Blood

It was only a week from that triumphant entry back into Jerusalem and now Jesus had been subjected to a mock trial, scourging, death on the cross, and burial in a borrowed tomb. It seemed as though Satan had won, and then there was that third day. Christ had victory over death and because of that we can have victory too. The ultimate sacrifice was paid. It was paid for in blood.

People are Fickle

Over two thousand years ago, Christ entered into the city of Jerusalem in a very majestic and triumphant way. His earthly ministry had been very successful; he had healed the sick, and raised the dead. He had given hope to everyone that was sick of the current state of the land. The people were ready to take him off of the donkey he was riding and crown him king. You can read about it in Luke 19:28-35:
