The world stole the symbol of the rainbow and made it into something representing a lifestyle that is completely against the promise that God made for the future. The world tends to do that with scripture – turn it into something that they can live with to assuage their guilt from choosing to go against the Words of the One who created them.
“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!” Isaiah 5:20-21
Part 1 – Joseph’s coat
Joseph was a very obedient young man that lived with his family and very mindful of his father and what his father expected of him.
Joseph was such a remarkable son that his father gifted him a coat of many colors. It was such a divine gift that his brothers were completely and thoroughly disgusted with the favor that their father had bestowed upon Joseph. They were so jealous that they decided to kill him (but at the last minute changed direction and sent him out into the world as a slave).
Joseph was sent into Egypt, into a foreign world where he would be ridiculed as a slave, thrown into a dungeon, and finally after at least thirteen long years was brought before the king.
Through the entire thirteen year ordeal Joseph never forgot the Lord God. The thing is, not only did he not forget God, he lived in such a way that everyone he came in contact with knew that Joseph was different than everyone else (even in a foreign land). Joseph was brought before the king because of the testimony of the butler that Joseph had helped in prison.
“…The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5:16b
Joseph became second in command to the kingdom of Egypt because of the testimony: even the king realized that Joseph was in touch with the one true God.
Joseph’s testimony allowed him to save Egypt and many of the surrounding lands because Joseph gave himself to God.
Part 2 – Christ’s coat
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
God took the heavenly veil off of Christ for around thirty-three years. God took off the veil (or coat) from Christ and sent him a strange land with people that had just about forgotten who God was. During Christ’s sojourn on earth he was made fun of, ridiculed, spit upon, and crucified.
The only thing Christ had done was tell people of his Father. He not only taught about his Father, but with power he healed the sick, lame, and even raised the dead. The very people who had been predicting for centuries that the Messiah would appear were the very ones that did not believe him. Jealousy can be a terrible thing, and because of it they had him executed.
Little did they realize that they would be the instrument of our salvation. The act of his submission to all they did to him resulted in his resurrection.
A new life in Christ was the spiritual food now available to everyone.
Part 3 – My (Our) Coat
Christ paved the way for my salvation, I believe in the power of the Gospel of Christ. When Christ saved me, I became a new creature in Him. I have a coat waiting on me in Heaven because of my salvation. It is waiting on me.
I am a stranger in a strange land. The task before me is to tell or show people who He is and what He can do for them. That is the task that is hard to do. I am traveling in this strange land and I have been afflicted with this strange ailment called Aspergers that makes it very hard for me to even look people in the eye. Christ knows my limitations and has allowed me to be able to write and share. I sometimes go off the track and get on tangents that I shouldn’t be on. I’m human. God forgive me. You know what? I think he does!
“And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.” John 12:50
