Where Is The Star Leading You To?

For unto us a child is born, unto us as son is given:…” Isaiah 9:6a.

Over two thousand years ago humanity was finally given some direction. A star pointed to a place in Bethlehem where God sent to the world a Savior, His Son, to point us into the direction of eternal life. The curse of sin was, and is, still on this world, but we have been given a rare gift. It is our choice to receive or refuse, but it is the gift of eternal life. It is a gift, because it was freely given and it was first introduced to us by the simple sign of a star leading people to that gift. In the scriptures we are told the ones that followed that star for at least two years were wise men. Today, we should consider those that choose to follow that star are wise men (and women) too.

We were given a star to follow, but just where is that star leading us to? It is leading us to a life of fulfillment, of peace whenever we need it, and of unexplainable and constant deep down joy. We go thru life and follow that star that leads us to the One who put us here to begin with. We follow as closely as we can to that star (even though we fall down a lot), and we listen to the voice of that star in the Word he left with us, but we know the outcome of how all things will eventually end. We have been promised eternal shelter under his wings in a place called Heaven. How do we know this? He told us in His Word that He left with us.

The age-old question that we all have is, “what is Heaven like?” John was given a glimpse of Heaven and in the book of the Revelation in chapters 21 and 22 he attempted to describe it somewhat. He said that he couldn’t really describe the beauty of it, that words could really not do it justice (pretty much like trying to take a picture of a sunset and never getting in a photograph how it really made you feel in person).

The first thing that stands out to me is “And there shall be no more curse; but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it…” Rev. 22:3.  Let that sink in – no more curse. That means living as Adam and Eve were living before the curse.  No guilt, no shame, no evil thoughts creeping into your brain where they are not wanted. That alone makes you want to shout Amen!

The description of the city itself sounds amazing, sounds like something you could never imagine, and no street lights, because it is never night. The glory of God himself illumines everything. No night means no evil there, nothing there to defile anything. Can you even imagine not have those evil thoughts and imaginations creeping up on you throughout the day? Astounding! Amazing!

All these gifts and more because you chose to follow the Star to where it would eventually lead you! Hallelujah! He is worthy!!! Amen!!

What happens to you if you decide on following a different route, a different star? Let’s explore that a little in another post.
