Life Happens (So Why Gripe About It?)

“And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are; for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.”

“But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut the door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.”

“But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do; for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.”

“Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.”

Matthew 6:5-8

Another title for this subject could be “Oh, Grow Up!”

I have been very pouty lately. We are trying to move – we thought we had a particular house, things fell through on this end, and we didn’t get that particular house. So, for a few weeks we have been having our own little pity party.

Life happens, people! Sometimes we get things, sometimes we don’t. It happens to everyone. The thing is, how do we react to it?

Refer back to the verses from Matthew, chapter six. Read what Christ Himself said about your attitude. Come to Christ with a humble spirit, realize that not everything is about you. You have to come to grips with the fact that you don’t get what you want every time. Think, that was what I wanted; not necessarily what I needed. Look at those words of Christ. He knows what we need before we even ask for it. Sometimes you will be given your wants too, but your needs are already covered.

“….for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth the rain on the just and the unjust.”               Matthew 5:45

Because of Adam’s fall, things happen. It is no ones fault. That is the state of man. Man is born in a fallen world. A world that keeps falling further into sin. As stated in previous articles, it is all downhill from here. Things are not getting better in the world and if you think they are you are completely delusional.

In the meantime though, don’t equate the everyday things that happen to you as affronts to you personally. Things happen. Houses are bought, houses are sold. Don’t hold onto your things so tightly. They are after all, only things. You are going to leave it all behind when you pass from this life. All of them. Be concerned with relationships. With your family, with your friends. Most of all, be concerned with the relationship you have with your Creator. He keeps knocking, just open the door and let Him in.
