I Look Gooood!

Looking at the book of Romans continuing from several weeks ago, Paul gets more specific about things that are against the will of God. The unsaved person sees nothing wrong in living this way (out of God’s will) since he does not see any future consequences to living this way. We, as Christians however, should take heed to these things. If you see any of these traits within yourself, you should begin to think a little deeper and look a little harder and question your walk with God.

Grandpa’s Prayers

We talk about prayer a lot.  We say I’ll pray for you.  We say a blessing over our food.  We have a nightly prayer routine with our children.  We often pray, but do we really pray.  I mean really really pray?

Born to Die

I have read many articles and opinions on the fact that Christ came into the world to die for you sins, but the way he died – and willingly. How can I wrap my head around that? How, as a very fallible human being could you ever muster up the nerve to do that? Look again at what Isaiah said about it many years before it actually happened. Ok

What is Wrong with Santa Claus

Before starting I can say without a doubt that this article is going to make me unpopular, at least, more so than I already am. Years ago, this legend was born because a generous man wanted to give the children something on what was considered the most important day of the year – the birth of Christ. He wanted to give good gifts to the children as a reminder of the most important gift that was ever given.

Follow that Star!

Ok, you just bought that beautiful nativity set. It is gorgeous. Everything looks perfect. Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus, shepherds, donkeys, cows, sheep, goats, wise men…(screeching halt here). Wise men? Just why do we see wise men in all nativity scenes. It took almost two years for the wise men to find the baby. Wandering around all thru the wilderness for years, looking for the promise of the Messiah, but having trouble getting there. Too busy looking up; too busy to look out; too busy following that star.

Let’s Get Personal

I am not sure how to start this one. When one gives their personal testimony, they should probably choose their words carefully. Not only are you reflecting yourself in a good or bad light, but you are also either magnifying yourself or the Savior. When doing this I would prefer that it reflect the light of the LORD, rather than anything I say putting me in any type of higher esteem.

Thanksgiving

Let’s get this thing back on track. This is not supposed to be a mostly political blog. We have been delving too deep into feelings and reactions. On this week of Thanksgiving, let’s just pause and get into that mode – a mode of thankfulness. Can we do that please? We will just let the LORD deal with all the social mess in His timing.

Are You Ready For It?

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;”

“And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned into fables.”      2 Timothy 4:3-4

What If’n

Let me preface by saying that we are writing this article 2 weeks before the presidential election. Let me also play a game that my wife plays with me sometimes (which I am not too fond of) called what if’n. What if’n you would say this or that to me, what if’n we would have done this instead of that. We can what if’n ’til the cows come home, but it will not change the outcome of anything. Grace and I are going to play what if’n with the election, and we will see which is the closer to the eventual outcome of this slugfest that is going on that we call an election.

“Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth. Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee. Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.”     Proverbs 5:5-7
