Your Ego Is Showing

“For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.”     Galatians 6:3

We have already established that I am not good at being any type of demonstrative. I believe it is good to be able to have the attitude of confidence; I would like to have a measure of that. I have been seeing lately, an attitude of Christian people, even leaders, that is a little scary to me. What happened to humbleness of heart and mind. I know sometimes I am a little pathetic because I can’t speak publicly or even join in normal conversations, but there are some that know everything about everything (yeah, right)! These are Christian people, setting themselves up to be superior to others (even in the guise of discipling others, get a grip on that ego)!

“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.”

James 4:10

Did you read that last verse? I am pretty much positive that means you do not have to tootle your own horn. God himself will lift you up (and that is without the help of social media or any other man contrived conveyance). What ever happened to that attitude? In modern Christianity it has been replaced with look at me, look at what I have written, look at what I said, follow me and I will make you to think and worship like I do. I am the best one to tell you what I think.

You might think I am making this up, but I have seen writings and I have heard the attitudes. I see the big heads when someone says the things I tell you are a lot better that anything else you will read. An analogy of this would be a reference that you younger people will not understand, but on the old HeeHaw television show there was the character of Junior Samples “selling” used cars, says these were fine cars, when the bumper or headlight would fall off in the middle of his sales pitch!

I truly pray that my little writings do not come off that way, because I know my thinking is flawed a lot of times. I would pray that anything I write I would hope you look at the scripture verses I refer to and get the gist of what I am saying through the Holy Spirit. I truly think we are at a crossroads in history and it looks like many are being brought back to God, I am just saying check your ego at the door. You are just a messenger. You are not God. You just need to tone it down a bit, dear heart.

Check your ego at the door.

“With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;”   Ephesians 4:2 (KJV)

For those of you that can’t read poetry, here is:

“Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.”    Ephesians 4:2 (NIV)

Disclaimer: I am from old school, I still read and study with KJV. Always have and probably always will.  I know there are some who are having a hard time with that. There are some verses from some versions that I believe go too far and do not agree with history or God himself but there are versions that are good studies and I have personally seen it help people come to Christ.

“For he that is not against us is on our part.” Mark 9:40

“And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not; for he that is not against us is for us.”  Luke 9:50
