Something Sinister This Way Came (Sat Down at the Table, Turned on the TV, Ate Dinner, Unbuttoned Its Pants, and Went to Sleep in the Lounge Chair)

While the country was sitting around twiddling its thumbs some really unholy and unhealthy things were going on behind the scenes. Unholy people were denying God, turning His grace into evil and evil into good.

Jude 4 says it this way: “For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.”

In Greek mythology, Pandora out of curiosity opened a box that contained all the world’s evils. I could not find anything other than she opened the box out of curiosity – and then all the evils broke loose and she could not get them back into the box.

I realize that Jude was speaking of the church, and the church is and has been having its problems. I will say that the true church does not have problems, that God is in control and He knows exactly what is happening and who His people are. This article, though, is speaking more about the state of the country (we can go into more depth about the church later).

It has been several weeks since the assassination of Charlie Kirk. I had been listening to some of Charlie’s podcasts over the past couple of years. He was an unusual mix of Christian and statesman. He was not a politician but he flawlessly refuted new age philosophies that are so prevalent in our world today and especially college campuses. He was someone that we sorely needed.

It seems that the left got their dander up when the President upset the ideology of transgenderism. Transgenderism is apparently a new radical left religion that is driving left leaning politics at the moment. If the left can let anything anyone wants to do be legal, they can get more votes that way. If you get rid of dead people and illegal aliens then all you have left is weird social experimentation and anti-God movements to count on votes. If that happens the right must be eliminated. 

Certain factions moved our society to a place where if you give people enough stuff they will vote for you to keep you in power no matter what you do or how you do it. That is corruption, pure and simple. It does not matter that what you do is against God (your creator), if it ruins families, individual lives, and the country. If you are making a profit, it is completely worth it for you and yours. 

If you get caught the excuse is that is the American way. It wasn’t, by the way, from the beginning. The country started off with people sacrificing even their own lives for others. Charlie Kirk knew that. He wanted the country to get back to the vision that our founders put forth in the Constitution. I think Charlie knew the sinister things that had come out of the Pandora’s box that has been opened, he was convincing young people on college campuses to start the process of trying to restore things. It’s going to be hard to put all the evil that has come out of that box back in. We cannot do it alone. We need the help of God, or better yet, we need God to do it. He shut the door on Noah’s ark, he can shut this box too. Pray, seek God, get back to the roots of the country. 

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
