Here it is again – another Christmas season, where we sing about the baby in a manger and how God showed His love to us through this act. How is it that a loving God should come to us and give such a sacrifice for the world of fallen humans. Then, to realize that He would have done the same for any one of us – that blows my mind, I am not sure how you feel about it.
Why a baby though? Why did your creator decide to come as a baby and go through all the stages of being a person? Why didn’t he just come directly as a grown man and start His ministry right away? He wanted to show us that He knew and understood all of your wants and needs so coming as a grown human He could have done that, so why a baby?
It all leads me to believe that the Word wanted to show us that there is something important about children. Think about the statement – “for unto you a child”. There is something important about children. When God gives a couple a child, he is giving you a gift, an important gift! A gift that you are responsible for and that you should raise in the path that leads that child to the Lord so that the child can point other people to the path that leads to the Lord.
There are many scriptures in the Word that point to the importance of children and how we should keep and protect them. Not only keep and protect, but nurture, and yes, discipline. (Which may or my not include corporal punishment). Get a clue – sparing the rod does not mean beating your child to death, it just involves getting the point across. Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is older he will not depart from it is the path we are looking to follow.
We live in a twisted society today, one that no longer believes that a child is a gift from God. Feminists have convinced society that women’s bodies are their own. No ones body is their own. Unless you crawled out from under a rock, you were born a baby. Babies are a gift from God. Your own self was a gift from God. If we can just throw gifts from God away just because they were an inconvenience, how do you think God feels about a society that thinks this way?
If, according to feminists they can do anything with their body they please (a body that was a gift from God), what happens to the part of the seed that was planted in their body (that was part of the mans body)? How does the woman have the right to destroy the part of the child that was part of the man? Sounds a little bit like the chicken and the egg theory doesn’t it? The point is, that the child that a woman removes from her body is not her own. It is a gift from God, and half of that gift is the mans. I am not denying that sometimes the man could be a jerk. The man is just as, and more so responsible for that seed (that gift from God) than the woman is. Once upon a time the man and the woman were both gifts from God, what you do with your gift is your responsibility.
This is why God laid out the pattern for life in the Word: a man and woman meet, get married, then they are parents. That is the divine order. Not get practice, have children, get married. Do you not see how society has transformed God’s formula to a new math? Now X+Y=whatever we want it to mean. It makes absolutely no sense, but our society operates in a nonsensical pattern. How long can we last this way?
To get back to the main subject – this time of year we are thinking about the baby, that gift from God. Please remember that no matter what you think that God believes all babies and all people that have grown from being a baby are an important gift from God!
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
