Pride & Where It Should Be Placed

We live in a society that has taken the things that God has lain to for guides and trivialized them to near extinction. That should not be much of a surprise.

“Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the creator…” Romans 1:25

So, our society has taken the concept of pride and associated it with a segment of society that is in direct violation of some of God’s directions for the way that we live – 1.“The fear of the LORD is to hate evil; pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate.” Proverbs 8:13; “Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up into vile affections: for even the women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And like wise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;” Romans 1:25-28.

Yes, these words can be condemning to segments of our society, but the church has gone overboard in pandering to the social gospel crowd. There are a good many “churches” today that preach a social gospel as something that will bring about a Utopian society for the future. It will bring about something, but that something is not God’s plan for the true church. If you decide to do good works, good for you – that’s great! The thing is though – that is not God’s plan.

Please churches, forget about social justice and let us be a body of believer’s work to bring about Biblical justice. Biblical justice is justice tempered with love and mercy, which is God’s plan for us as a church. “O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” Micah 6:8.

Christ even made a passionate speech about it once, and he made it to the leaders of the synagogue (the ones that were running the church). He was calling the whole hierarchy system out (they were confusing things like money and power with matters of the heart). “Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye pay tithe of mint and anise and cumin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgment, mercy and faith; these ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone.” Matthew 23:23.

In today’s world, we are excusing all types of sins and we are proud of doing it. We have voiced our opinion to God and overwritten the things He has said were wrong. We have told God that we know better than He does in all matters, that His opinions no longer count. We, as a church, have handed out to people the social gospel of good works and said that we know better how to run His Church than He does.

What was the objective that Christ gave to his disciples as he ascended back to Heaven? “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”  Matthew 28:18-20.

Does it look like that our church is fighting a losing battle? Maybe it is because our church has gone on to be a social justice enabler of society – we are telling everyone that everything that they think, or do, or say is just OK with God. Maybe we should get back to telling people about God’s justice instead of social justice – justice that is tempered with mercy – God: who was merciful enough to send His own son to die on the cross as a substitute for the justice that would have been yours if He had not done that.

Now, church – go do Matthew 28:18-20 and don’t forget to do it with the last step as shown in Micah 6:8 –  “and to walk humbly with thy God.” That means, place pride aside and just let all know about this true justice situation instead of the “social justice” fiasco that has been invading. Put politics aside and tell all.

“And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” Revelation 22:17
