I was listening to the radio a few days ago and a song came on that I had never heard before. Just a few words got to me, I was in the car and the car got turned off just a few seconds after the song began. How real those few word are though – “All I Have Is Grace.” Exactly. That is all any of us have. Without God’s grace, where would any of us be.
Without God’s grace, I would not be able to wake up in the mornings. His grace gives me air to breathe. His grace gives me the will to pull my feet from under the covers and set them on the floor in the morning. His grace gave me my wife. His grace gave me my family, my extended family, my church family. His grace and His assurance gives me the will to go on, even in difficult times – even when society around us is crumbling on its foundations daily. His grace – I cannot imagine living without His grace, or being able to live.
“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” John 1:14
“Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” Romans 3:24
“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:9
“Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace are ye saved;) “ Ephesians 2:5
“For by grace are ye save through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.” Ephesians 2:8
“That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” Titus 3:7
“That we may come boldly before the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16
I have nothing, I am nothing, it is all by grace through faith. The song Marvelous Grace – pay special attention to the third verse.
Marvelous Grace
1. Marvelous grace of our loving Lord,
Grace that exceeds our sin and our guilt!
Yonder on Calvary’s mount out-poured –
There where the blood of the Lamb was spilt.
2.Sin and despair, like the sea waves cold,
Threaten the would with infinite loss;
Grace that is greater – yes, grace untold –
Points to the Refuge, the mighty Cross.
3.Marvelous, infinite, matchless grace,
Freely bestowed on all who believe!
All who are longing to see His face,
Will you this moment His grace receive?
Chorus:
Grace, grace, God’s grace,
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within;
Grace, grace, God’s grace,
Grace that is greater than all our sin!
