I don’t know if you are a connoisseur of horror movies or not, when someone tells me they like to be scared out of their wits – I wonder if they have any left. I am not sure if the desire to delve into the macabre is a human trait or not. Is it a natural human desire to be closer to the father of evil? I surmise from this, that if you desire things you should not, those are worldly desires, stemming from something, or someone that has control of your mind and your desires.
“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do.” – – -John 8:44a
Christian, I do not know about you, but when I see or do something against the will of God the Father, I feel ashamed, guilty, or just sick in my soul. If we put garbage in though, garbage is going to come out.
Have we let the entertainment of this world control our habits, our thoughts and desires? Are we guilty of letting this happen? And why? Do you not feel it?
“He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.” – John 8:47
Have we become callous, seeking all the worldly pictures flash before our eyes that we are no longer chastised by God for our actions and/or thoughts? Jesus came to the blind beggar and had compassion on him and opened his eyes. “When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with clay, and said unto him, “Go, wash in the pool of Siloam,” (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.” – John 9:6-7
By chance, the blind man came to Jesus and came to see. By chance, we as spiritually blind people were met by Jesus and he made us to see things that we did not know existed – peace, joy, a home in Heaven, freedom from the chains of this world and Satan who controls it. So why, are you trying to cover your soul back up with the things the world is throwing at you? If you just stop and think for a moment, it makes no sense whatsoever. Spiritually, we were pigs – we were washed clean – and we are returning to the mud?
“But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.” To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.” – John 10:2-5
