Don’t. Just don’t.
Rush Limbaugh was always amusing with being on the cutting edge of societal evolution. I am pretty sure he was saying it tongue-and-cheek, don’t believe he was actually serious. I mean, why do you and are you trying to keep up with anything society does. I think people are trying so desperately to fit in that they just post and or say stuff so it will look like they are a thriving part of today’s society/culture.
Take Facebook, as an example. People see what looks like an innocuous statement or idea, and they immediately post it. Please don’t. If you are not careful, some of these ideas promote eastern religion philosophies that simply do not agree with your (hopefully) Christian ethics. Take, for instance – “follow your heart”. Let’s remove that from our vocabularies altogether, people! Don’t forget what you say you believe above all other worldly ideas and philosophies – the Holy Bible: and what does it say about that?
“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” Jeremiah 17:9
Here’s is a gem of an idea I recently saw ascribed to: “A daughter is one of the most beautiful gifts this world has to give.” That is correct – I typed it right – this world has to give. What’s wrong with that statement?
- If your daughter was given to you by the world – I am not even sure how that would have worked.
- You don’t get gifts from the world. The world only takes.
- Christian – you are only in this world, not of this world. If the world tries to give you anything – run!
How are we combating the ideas of the world as Christians? It looks like a lot of us are using the methods of the world to combat the philosophies of the world. It is impossible to do. No matter if it looks as if nothing is being accomplished with God’s Word, do not try to stand up against the world with any other sword, with any other shield. God’s Word is the only thing that will stand up against the world. No matter what you try to do, do all to the glory of God, with the help of God and His Word. Don’t try to stand against Satan with Satan’s tools. He knows how to use his own tools much better than you do!
Remember, this is not the society you belong to, so don’t try to keep up with it!
