In this new year, we as Christians, continue to wonder why the world finds Christians such an enigma. In fact, the world has so much confusion about us that it has spilled over into some churches and now some that call themselves Christians are confused about the matter. Why do Christians stand against society? How can you call yourselves a member of our society and say or do things completely opposite of our society?
In today’s world we have an example of that right in front of your face. You know how when a group of people from another country, instead of being called Americans, want to be called (the country where my people came from)-Americans? Well, Christians actually have dual citizenship. We have citizenship in the country we live in on this earth, but we also have citizenship in Heaven (where we were actually born). That’s correct! That is actually what I said – when you went through your second birth – that took place in Heaven. (It was issued in Heaven on the day of your salvation!)
The Holy Bible is chocked full of mysteries though – and the thing is, unless you had that second birth in Heaven – you will never understand the Book at all. You just won’t get it! It’s like a southern guy from the boonies trying to understand Greek without any type of education – just won’t happen.
The first mystery is Christ coming to earth and dying for a world full of ungrateful people. The world could never understand such love. The world does not believe it.
I am not sure how to list all the mysteries involved, but the second would be the Word of God itself. The Apostle Paul talked about it, that even the educated people of this world will never understand:
“But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which ordained before the world unto our glory:”
“Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.”
“But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”
“But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.”
“For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? Even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God,”
“Now we have received, not the spirit of this world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things which are freely given to us of God.”
“Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.”
“But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
1 Corinthians 2:7-14
In conclusion, these very facts are the reason that unsaved people and societies come up with false religions – they are desperately trying to get what you have, Christian brother and sisters. They want to know where they are going when they die, they want to have that peace that passeth all understanding. They want it desperately, so much so that they create religions to try and achieve what we have been freely given. If they only could grasp that we do not have religion – we have a personal relationship with our Father!
