This has been a real, well, a really…err…memorable year. That’s about the only thing you can say for it. This year we discovered that good was actually bad, and bad was actually good!
At least, according to the media. It is apparently a good thing for an angry mob to come in and loot, burn, and beat up people as a protest for their mistreatment, or, not getting their fair share. It seems Lucy Van Pelt was the sane one for yelling at Charlie Brown that all she wanted was her fair share, or, what should be coming to her. So actually, we as a country, think it is a good thing for Lucy to go on a rampage against Charlie Brown.
According to the media, it is a good thing for mayors, and other authority figures to close down churches and public outlets in the midst of all the burning and looting (which was OK because it is everyone’s right to protest).
Take The Hobbit as an analogy. We seem to have been very curious about the legend of Smaug the dragon and have gone in to the dragon’s lair to see what all the fuss was about. We let our government (the dwarves) tell us to go in an poke around with dragons like Socialism and Marxism. Now the dragon is waking up and he is getting ready to go burn down the village. No one is ready with a large harpoon to slay the dragon so it looks like we are up a creek without a paddle.
That is the secular version of what is going on. The truth is, the King is already on the throne and he is getting ready to recall the troops. The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings were entertaining but with the king in those stories it takes six books to get to the end and then there are all sorts of fighting and warring to get to the end of the story. The real King will not have to fight that hard. He spoke the world into existence, and the stars, and sun, and all of creation. All He has to do is speak and His will is accomplished. When He comes back, He will be bringing troops with Him, but I think that will be more for shock and awe than anything else. All He will have to do is speak and the battle will be over.
What, you are asking yourself, is this supposed King waiting on? He is waiting on you, maybe your neighbor, maybe your son or your daughter, your mom or your dad. He is expanding His troops. His recruitment is an ongoing act of divine intervention on anyone’s behalf that is willing to fight for and with Him. As soon as the recruitment is over, we will rally in Heaven with the King to get ready for that final battle. The one where He wins. The story has already been written.
The new year is upon us. Get to a recruitment center and sign on. The bonus is eternal life. In Paradise. With Him.
“And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.”
“In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.”
“And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:”
“And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.”
“And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.”
“And behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.”
“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.”
“Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates of the city.”
