You are kidding me? Do you mean to tell me after all we’ve been through this year we are supposed to take a day off and be thankful again??!! I would have thought we would just skip that this year. Our elected officials have gone off the deep end, thrown out the baby with the bathwater, gone cuckoo! After this dreadful couple of years, we are supposed to be thankful!!
It does seem like no matter what happens, no matter how much we have and have been given, we are never thankful! In fact, it’s probably like one in ten who stop to be grateful for what we have. Look at this example in Luke 17:11-19 –
“And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.”
“And as he entered into a certain village, there met him ten men that were lepers, which stood afar off:”
“And they lifted up their voices, and said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.”
“And when he saw them, he said unto them, Go shew yourselves unto the priests. And it came to pass, that, as they went, they were cleansed.”
“And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, and with a loud voice glorified God,”
“And fell down on his face at his feet, giving them thanks: and he was a Samaritan.”
“And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine?”
“There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.”
And he said unto him, Arise, go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole.”
Did you see that. Only one of the people that had been made whole. Human nature – we have been given great gifts and are so busy we forget to go back and say a simple “thank you”.
We as Christians do the same. We have been given the greatest gift of all – our salvation – and we forget to go back and tell the one that created us “thank you Lord.”
OK, so here is the deal – please don’t forget to be thankful on Thanksgiving day for all the food you are fixing to stuff into your body, but more than that, thank your Creator every day for all you have, all he has given you, and all he will give you.
Happy Thanksgiving from voiceoftheintroverts! May your heart be full as well as your plate!
