Determination

It is hard to believe, we have been doing this for a whole year. We were determined to get through a year and we are almost at our goal. I guess our writing will live on somewhere in the vast nonsense of the internet. The thing is, we were determined to get through a year and it is almost there.

It is a little bit of a come down, because we have been able to do this writing whether we had time or not. Thinking about what if we could live our Christian life the same way, setting a goal and actually achieving it. So often in life we think we are going to do things – we are going to pray more, we are going to study more – but life happens and we just sort of go in different directions and somehow forget about our plans and even our promises to God.

This is only another indication that we are not perfect. We will not reach perfection until we cross into Heaven, either by death or in the Rapture of the church.

Think for a minute, if Christ, when he came to earth in the form of a man to do the things that he came to do – that if he had the same kind of grit that you have – would that ultimate sacrifice have been made? And if that sacrifice had not been made where would all of mankind be? Where would you be? Without that blood sacrifice all of humanity would be doomed for Hell, writhing in pain, burning up without ever burning up. We have problems with hangnails, so just imagine eternal pain.

The thing is though, Christ came and he did what he had to do. He conquered death, Hell, and the grave. Because of that we all have a choice to decide which team we want to be on – good or evil, Heaven or Hell, God or Satan.

Once you have accepted Christ, determine you will live for Christ, and on Christ’s terms. I know you think you are having fun, but if you are a Christian and you are living your life in a way that does not reflect Christ, you are misleading those around you. If you live in a manner as worldly, those lost people around you who do not know Christ are certainly not going to see Him in you. Consequently, you might be responsible for others making wrong life decisions.

Determine to live your life in a manner pleasing to and reflective of Christ Himself. Sure, you are human, you will fall sometimes. Get up, dust yourself off, and join the race that is set before you!

“Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the  prize? So run, that ye may obtain.”

“And every man (or woman) that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.”

“I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:”

“But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”

I Corinthians 9:24-27

We reached our goal. This is the last regular weekly posting. Grace has harder homeschool classes for her kids to think about. As things come to mind we will continue to write, if you have any ideas, send them to us. After a year, my brain is about empty! Thanks for your loyalty and for your kind words. We will try to kickstart our brains and keep something going once in a while!

This year my children are growing older and I’m reading books like Quantum Mechanics and Relativity, and books about logic and reasoning, Shakespeare, Plutarch, and many of the classics in my spare time.  I enjoy writing, but I have to let something go and focus more exclusively on homeschooling and momming for a time.  I will write sometimes when I am able.  Thank you all for taking time to read our thoughts this past year.  It doesn’t feel like a year since we started writing each week.  I didn’t know what to expect when we started a blog, but I’ve actually made a few new friends doing this, and I have had opportunity to speak more extensively on some of these subjects with many of you!  I hope something we said has encouraged you.  Thank you for taking time to read!
