What are you looking for? Are you looking to become wealthy? Are you looking for popularity? Or are you just looking for your keys you lost? How are you coping with what is going on around you? Are you joining in? Are you leading the pack? Or, are you just coping?
Do you understand what we are trying to get at with these writings, or do you glance, or do you not get it at all?
Let me first ask the question – have you been born again? For anyone unfamiliar with that term – have you been redeemed? Or, have you accepted Christ as your personal Savior?
That is the prerequisite for understanding the Bible and it would also apply to these writings when we are talking about the Bible. The Holy Bible is the actual Words of God spoken to men to not only explain salvation but also to explain His will for our lives, to give us understanding, to give us peace. But, only thru that understanding and allowing The Holy Spirit to take control can that happen.
“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”
“Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me (Paul), do: and the God of peace shall be with you.”
Philippians 4:7-9
The keys (you know, those keys you have lost) to peace are:
#1: Knowing God (salvation) (not just knowing about God)
#2: Reading and following God’s Words (get into your Bible – and you do need to use a Bible that has not been tainted by the world. KJV is the best for English-speaking countries)
#3: Keep repeating step #2 daily

and continuing…
“Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” Philippians 4:8
This verse written by Paul is one of my many favorite verses. I always try to have this verse displayed somewhere that I see it often. It reminds me to work on keeping my thought life pure because “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.” –Proverbs 23:7a
It is not easy to keep our thoughts reigned in, and when our hearts are far from God it is impossible. We are not by nature virtuous people, and our sinful nature shines through quickly when we are not walking close to God. My attitude when I have spent time with the Lord versus my attitude when I am doing things on my own is vastly different.
Before we can walk with God we need to accept him as our Saviour. We must repent of our sins, believe in his finished work on the cross, and ask him to be Lord of our life. Then we need to begin reading his word and following the instructions he has for us to follow. Only then will we achieve lasting joy.
