His Name

Have you noticed, as a Christian, that you can talk about God all you want, but if you try to talk about Jesus people start getting uncomfortable? That is because people can make a god out of anything and when you are talking about God they are picturing their little gods in their minds and everything is all rosy and utopian, we are all joining hands, we are the world type nonsense. But if you bring up Jesus that is putting Christianity on that very narrow path that Christ talked about and then we might have to live by Christ’s methods and actually live a life that honors the Father – at that point we can no longer live the way we really would like to and it brings us down man, it brings us down!

We have mentioned in other writings how Jesus said himself that he came to this world to divide people, not unite everyone, as new-age religions would have you believe. “Suppose ye that I am come to give peace in earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division; For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.”

Luke 12:51-53

Look at it this way, imagine a superhighway of ten or fifteen lanes, all traveling in the same direction. Running parallel to that highway is a small dirt road that goes the same direction as the superhighway. That little road is not so attractive in the fast paced world because it does not get you to where you want to go as quickly as you would like. Not only is it small, but it can be very scary at times, potholes, construction detours and other complications. Not very desirable at times. The superhighway – well that one is always newly paved and very smooth riding. Which one would you take?

Oh, I forgot to tell you – the little dirt road eventually leads to Paradise and the superhighway eventually drops off into eternal torment. Which one did you choose?

Yes, it can be difficult at times if you have chosen Christ and chosen to walk with Him. Your mission though, if you have decided to do that, is to choose that little narrow road that not many people want to take. You have now been divided against other people, possibly people that you know and love. You have chosen this path and so therefore those people that are on the superhighway should see you patiently going along on the narrow road and not trying to climb up the ditch that separates the two, trying to take that easy route for awhile. You are now living a new life, separated from the things that are easy. Your life has become different.

We now bear His name and should live life accordingly.  “Let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” 2 Timothy 2:19b

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.”

2 Timothy 3:1

Hang on! Perilous times, here we come. The road is getting rocky!
