Living in Fear

“For God has not given us the spirit of fear…”      2 Timothy 1:7a

Have you noticed how everyone is living in fear lately. I am talking Christians too! How is that possible? I think it is because we are living too much in and too close to the world (I mean the world system/culture).

All the worldly things are the things we are scared of. We should be more scared of not pleasing God than all these things that are going on around us.  “No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who has chosen him to be a soldier.”  2 Tim. 2:4

In other words, since we are soldiers of Christ’s, we should not be involving ourselves with things of the world. If you have a secular job, if you are a politician, or a statesman you should be trying to please God instead of the world. And as we see from our present circumstances, that has not been happening.

We are scared of politics. We are scared of the media. We are scared of food prices rising. We are scared of gas prices rising. We are scared of the costs of medicines. We are just plain scared.

“This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.”

2 Timothy 3:1

If you know scriptures at all, I am sure you’re familiar with that verse. So how come when you start seeing all these things come to pass you are scared of it happening? Don’t you realize Christ could come back at any moment? The question for each individual Christian is, are you going to be a David and run toward the battle, or are you David’s brothers and are standing back just watching the battle take place? Are you going after Goliath, or are you letting Goliath come to you?

Battle is a scary thing. Just ask any service man or woman that has been in the thick of things. It disturbs people so much that they cannot get over it easily, sometimes they cannot talk about it at all because it is so frightening. And guess what? It is coming. The spiritual battle is heating up. There will be persecution coming for the Christian.

“Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.” 2 Timothy 3:12

Let me go back to the beginning of why we started this blog. We are a couple of people that are very timid. Our voices are not our swords. We have our shield – the Bible, but we are not able to talk about it in an open discussion. Now that we discovered the possibilities of the internet, we have been able to find our voice. Who knew we would be able to talk with our fingers. That is why you sharing these posts is so important – it helps us in wielding our sword. This is a medium by which we can share. If you would, if you have a hard time voicing your opinion, pick up your fingers and work with us in getting out the news of the gospel of Christ. Comment on our blogs if you cannot come up with one on your own. Let’s keep talking and sharing so that our small voices can become something big enough to cut down a few Goliaths.

and continuing…

So much fear. Many are afraid of a virus. Many are afraid of death. Many are afraid of not wearing masks, or of not getting a vaccine. On the flip side some are afraid of government overreach, of loss of freedom, of losing rights. Some are afraid of how so many people are wearing a mask, and many are afraid of vaccines. Some people are afraid of rising costs of living, some are afraid of global warming. Some of us are afraid for what the world will look like for our children in the future, and some are afraid that they will lose their children, their families, or their friends. Some people are afraid of police, while others are afraid of a world without police.

Did you know that out of the first four people living on earth one of them killed another? That means that ¼ of the population was murdered, and ¼ of the population was a murderer. Do you know how many wars have been fought, storms occurred, murders happened? Can you count how many viruses, diseases, or epidemics have raged on the earth in times past?

If you are living right now in fear I have some good news for you.  The world is not a safe place.  You could easily die in the next 5 minutes. The world has never been a safe place.  (That sounds like bad news?)  Here’s the good news… It was not meant to be a safe haven.  This world is merely a stopping place, and if you are afraid I am so happy.  It means that the gospel of Jesus Christ is exactly what you need to help you with ALL of your fears! The percentage of people who will not die in this world is 0%.  We all must come face to face with our own mortality.  You can hide in fear if you want to, but it would make a lot more sense to put your faith and trust in Jesus, and live in victory.

2 Timothy 1:7  For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Matthew 10:28-33  And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.  Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing?  And one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.   But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.  Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.  Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.  But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

Do not be AFRAID!  God is still in control.  We might think the world is winning when we look around, but there is nothing new under the sun.  In the world there will be tribulation, but be of good cheer.  He has overcome the world!!!
