Politics

Politics is a fun topic no one else is discussing. It’s a great way to bring folks together. Good times to be had by all. There is nothing that builds unity more than a good presidential debate among family members and friends.

I honestly don’t know that there is anything that anyone can say to persuade anyone to change their minds these days, so it feels almost like a completely pointless discussion.  It reminds me of when I was young, and my sister, cousin, and I used to have slap fights. Yes, slap fights are exactly what they sound like.  You take turns slapping each other as hard as you can until one person concludes they’ve had enough, and that person is considered the loser.  At least during slap fights there was hysterical giggling involved.

Political discussions usually end with people calling each other names like 10 year olds, and people walking away angry.  I am going to be careful with this post, because I honestly don’t purposefully want to make people angry.  I mean, if you get angry, I’m not going to lose any sleep over it, but I do want to at least try to be diplomatic.

I’m not sure if you’ve heard, but in November we are supposed to be voting.  The candidates are very fun to watch, and the staunch almost worshipful supporters on both sides freak me out a little, but it’s better than watching paint dry, so I try to follow along.

Did you know that when deciding our votes we should be looking at the platform on which the candidates are running?

It’s kind of interesting that people are so angry at the person Donald Trump that they are willing to vote against family values, the right to life, and standing with Israel.  Also, it’s weird to me that Christians can act like these are secondary issues.  These are basic foundational scriptural truths. We cannot ignore them.

Do your research.  Decide what’s important.  Pray.  Vote your conscience in November.  You have every right to your opinion, but if it doesn’t line up with God’s word there’s a problem.   Whatever else you do please remember, although the election is extremely important, it’s not the most important thing. Don’t lose sleep over any of this, and seek God with your whole heart.  God is still on the throne no matter what happens in November.

and continuing…

We will eventually get around to being a little more controversial with our political statements, but for now, since November elections are so close I will just echo Grace’s plea. GET OUT AND VOTE!!

You can see for yourself the evil that is overtaking popular culture and a big part of society – you as a Christian need to exercise this right.

Let me ask you a question – how does God move in the world today? The answer is that He uses men. In the Old Testament Books and thru the apostolic period, He would speak through miracles. Today that doesn’t happen. He uses men. I am not picking either side for you in this discussion, but if you look at both sides you can obviously see which side is choosing to openly displace God and anything we, as Christians, stand for.

Why would a political party blatantly try to eliminate Christ from all aspects of society? I think someone is being controlled by the god of this world.

How can we stop it? What can we do? GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!
