Living in a Corrupt Society – Part 2

How do we cope living in a corrupt society? It is hard to look around and see all of the things going on around us and have no control over sometimes even how we react. Take a minute. Breathe. We already have discussed how God already knew this was going to happen. It is the last days people, it is going to happen.

   Have you noticed how people are going around saying things that have always been good are now being perceived as evil and things we have always known to be evil and/or corrupt are being called good? God knew that was going to happen. Way back in the book of Isaiah, chapter 5, verse 20: “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil;”. He knew it was going to happen then and the people doing that have already been condemned!

   My first point of this article is this: pray for those people! They are on their way to eternal damnation! If only we could bring out even one from among those ranks!

   My second point of this article is: continue on the narrow path you are on.

James 4:7-8a – “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw night to God, and He will draw night to you.”

   In the novel Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan, Pilgrim and his companion Hopeful are walking on their journey and are accosted by the citizens of Vanity Fair. They are ridiculed and imprisoned for only having Christian convictions; for not being like the rest of society. Sound anything like what is happening today?

   What thought do I want to leave you with? James 5:7-11:

   “Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.”

   “Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.”

   “Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.”

   “Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord,

for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.”

   “Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.”

and continuing…

Most of us in this world tend to look around at the evil that we see, and it’s so great that we begin to feel a little bit of self-satisfaction creeping into our minds. We think, “Well, what I’m doing isn’t so bad. At least I’m not (insert sin of choice).” We justify our own actions or inactions because in the grand scheme of things our own little petty sins seem very insignificant.

We need to stop and reflect on our own lives every day, and think about whether what we did and said throughout our day honors the God that we claim to love and serve. We need that time of quiet reflection to pray and ask God to gives us the desires of his heart. Don’t ask for the desires of our heart because our hearts are deceitful and desperately wicked. Pray for God to give us the eyes, heart, and mind of God.

1Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

2And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

3But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

4Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

5For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

6Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

7Be not ye therefore partakers with them.

8For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

9(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

10Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

11And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

12For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

13But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

14Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

15See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

16Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

17Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

If you aren’t sure how to live a life that is honoring to your Father, I promise that he is not hiding truth from you. Get into his word and read. Find a church with a godly pastor, but don’t only rely only on the pastor. II Timothy 2: 15 says “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

All of our actions should point back to our Saviour to the very best of our ability because we love God. He is worthy of all of our love and devotion. Don’t compare yourself to the world. If you do that today and you aren’t walking around murdering children you will think you are an angel. Compare yourself to what God’s word says you should be. Strive to be like Him!
