Having Peace in Today’s World

I have always had trouble explaining to others, and even to myself, why and/or how I can have peace with everything going on in the world. Today, the Spirit spoke to me through the Word! I have read it many times, but it never hit me before…

“For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world,” Hebrews 4:3

See it? Because I have believed I have rest. Look on, especially to those of you who think you have to do something to achieve this, he says works were finished when the world was made – that means you do not have to do anything to be saved; the work has already been done. Guess what your responsibility is? Not a thing. All you have to do is believe!!

Acts 16:31. “..Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved,..”

I will give you two examples of peace. I have already given you one, how thru the Holy Spirit speaking to me this morning I finally came to an under- standing of why I am at peace.

Second example I will give is on a more personal level. The example I will give also makes me feel that the Spirit is giving myself and other Christians a peace to know that the end is coming, and that we are going home soon. It is a small example, but to me it is huge. For pretty much all of my life I have  been a habitual nail-biter. I have tried for years to stop. I would slow down at some points but would always start back up. It was a habit I could not break.

I have never figured out why I was so constantly and continuously so nervous. I have a great life. The LORD has blessed me beyond measure. I just had this nasty nervous habit I could not break.

Guess what readers? The nervousness has ended. Last week, for the first time in sixty-five years I had to take finger-nail clippers and clip actual, wholly grown out fingernails!

That might not be a big deal to you, but I believe the Spirit is getting stronger within me. We are going home reader! SOON!

and continuing…

Recently I heard someone say we have to remember that even though good and evil are opposite they are not equal.  That little phrase is one of the most reassuring things we could ever hear.  Is Satan evil? Yes.  Is he powerful? Yes.  But more important is the fact that God is good, and he is so much more powerful than Satan will ever dream of being.

We can look around and see people burning Bibles in the streets, and screaming obscenities at one another, and destroying our towns and cities, and we can feel truly at rest that nothing is out of the control of our Lord and Saviour.

“And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:7

I haven’t personally counted the word peace in every verse in the Bible, but according to my research the word peace is in the Bible 429 times.  I’d say that God wants his people to understand peace.

Psalm 4:8 is one of my favorite verses about peace.  “I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.”  Everything that is supposed to happen is happening, and in that knowledge, we can hand all our worries over to God, feel his peace wash over us, and sleep deep, sound, beautiful sleep.

2020 has been a year that helps me feel so much peace.  I have had some of the best night’s sleep this year.  The chaos I see is just more proof that what God said is true.  This has all been prophesied.  God’s plan is coming to pass before our very eyes.  It can feel a little daunting when we see family and friends and people we love turning on us in anger, but God told us we would be hated.  In the west we’ve had it relatively easy as far as persecution goes.  The fact that our freedoms are being stripped away before our very eyes is intimidating until we remember that God wins!

We can face persecution.  We can face torture.  We can even face death. And we can do all of this knowing his amazing, wonderful, sweet peace that passes all understanding.
